Lynette Ten Krooden

Lynette Ten Krooden

South African painter Lynette Ton Krooden has been showing with the Majlis Gallery for over 20 years. She is the quintessential example of a true traveller painter, navigating the globe from Timbuktu to the Solomon Islands taking in Petra, Aires Rock and the Hajar Mountains en route. Her eyes and mind are ever open to the visual stimuli that are there for all to see but few can interpret. Her subject matter varies according to where her internal compass has taken her. Rocks, strata, hieroglyphs, rain shadows, cloud formations, aquatic forms findtheir way into her work which is executed in craftsman like style in a whole variety of mediums. The exquisite use of textures, layers and a unique gold-leaf process forms a cohesive visual vocabulary that elevates her paintings to visual feasts of spiritual manifestations. Multiple layering of rich colours, overlaid in some instances with sharp graphic line work, add a depth to her paintings which is uniquely her own. Upon first glance, Lynette’s canvases provide a feeling of vast, expectant stillness. Further examination reveals a varied and intense landscape promoting dreams and spiritual flights of imagination. This unassuming painter bares soul and intellect with a technical finesse that has justifiably earned her position as an internationally sought after artist. Above all Lynette’s work has an immense sense of awe and respect for the world around us.
