Sue worked for many of her early years in the advertising and editorial field, doing illustrations and typography design. She initially discovered the Majlis Gallery through other art admirers after moving to Dubai in 1991. The relationship gradually grew from being an exhibiting artist to a full partner in the gallery, before returning to her native Canada in 2002. Full-time painting started while living in Dubai, excited by its contrasts, both in culture and subject matter.
The elegant simplicity of Sue’s work is at the core of its wide appeal. She transforms the seemingly mundane, an old door, a silver bowl filled with cherries, a glass bowl with lemon are transformed into wonderful works of art. Sue combines the immediacy of drawing with the brilliance of painting, to breathe life into even the most static of subjects.
For the past 20 years she has devoted her time to painting, now working in oils and acrylics. Sue has worked with other artists, juries and art societies, travelled extensively, participated in several exhibitions and her work is now collected internationally. She is generally known for her highly realistic, contemporary still life paintings of fruit in glass or silver vessels.
